Celestial Phenomena: New Music for Piano Duo Performance
Description: Steinway Artist Min Kwon and USF Faculty Sang-Hie Lee collaborate in a recital of new music written for two pianos that offers an innovative genre. Contemporary two-piano literature available for concert stage is not abundant. This duo-piano concert presents a unique program of commissioned works for two pianos by composer-colleagues Professors Paul Reller and Gerald Chenoweth that explore rich sound reflecting cultural diversity, spiritual expressions, and the contemporary idioms under a unifying theme. USF "Clarinets with Class" Studio Recital
Description: "Under the direction of USF - Associate Professor of Clarinet, J. Brian Moorhead, (Principal Clarinet of the Florida Orchestra, Tampa Bay), this annual highlight USF performance event features musicians and guests from within the USF - Applied Music Studies Clarinet Studio to collaborate in self-elected solo, chamber, and clarinet choir selections for the public and invited prospective area high school instrumentalists; including their high school band classmates, music teachers, and parents. The USF Clarinet Studio then hosts a festive post-recital reception, nearby; enabling informal yet resourceful exchanges with the audience and future USF music students to become better acquainted with the USF - CoTA Music Program and the USF - Applied Music Studies Clarinet Class. Monday Night Jazz with USF Jazz Ensemble 1
Description: One of the best-kept secrets at USF, the Monday Night Jazz Series welcomes acclaimed musicians to perform with the USF Jazz students and faculty on the last Monday of each month. The USF Jazz Ensemble I is the top large jazz ensemble in the acclaimed USF Jazz Studies program. This group was invited to perform at the renowned Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, the Jazz a Juan Jazz Festival in France and the Tuscany Jazz Festival in the summer of 2007. Made up of the most talented School of Music jazz students, this group can often be heard in concert with major jazz artists on campus and on the many USF Jazz CDs, including the latest release Suncoast 2007.
